— A Real Story from a Designer
I've been a UI designer for eight years. Eighty percent of my waking hours are devoted to three screens: a 27-inch iMac, a 13-inch MacBook, and that phone that's always on.
Two years ago, late one night, I was rushing to finish an app redesign. Suddenly, the text on the screen became blurry. I blinked hard — still blurry. I thought my glasses were dirty, so I took them off and wiped them three times. Nothing changed.
My heart sank. Not fear — a deep exhaustion. My eyes were going on strike, and I didn't even have time to stop and cry.
The doctor diagnosed me with "visual fatigue + early-stage dry eye." The eye drops he prescribed only relieved the symptoms. Then he added, "Have you considered giving your eyes some nutrition?"
What? Eyes need to "eat" too?
From heated eye masks to blue-light blocking glasses, from timed break apps to artificial tears — I spent almost as much as my overtime pay on design drafts. In the end, I realized those only treated the symptoms. What truly took me from "my eyes feel like they're full of sand at 4 PM every day" to "I can still read small font annotations at 9 PM" were these three things.
You may not know this — the most central part of our retina, the macula, naturally contains high concentrations of lutein and zeaxanthin. They act like a built-in pair of sunglasses, specifically absorbing high-energy blue light.
But the body cannot synthesize these two compounds; you have to get them from food. Do you eat 5 jin (2.5 kg) of spinach every day? I don't.
My routine: One lutein softgel after breakfast. Not immediate. But after a month of continuous use, the most noticeable change was: looking at my phone at night no longer felt "harsh." Before, even a slightly bright screen felt burning. Now I can set it to normal brightness without tearing up.
Our product: H21 Lutein Softgel
Each softgel provides adequate lutein + zeaxanthin to support blue-light protection and long-term visual health.
What's a designer's worst nightmare? Not the client saying "make it bigger" — but working late in a café where the screen brightness doesn't match the ambient light, and your eyes just can't adjust no matter what. The anthocyanins in bilberry (European blueberry) promote the regeneration of photoreceptor cells in the retina and improve dark adaptation.
I don't take it every day, but I add one capsule the day before I need to work late or edit designs in a dim airplane cabin. The most tangible feeling: when walking from a bright area into a dark one, my eyes adapt faster. Driving at night, reading road signs is less strenuous.
What our factory can customise: Bilberry extract softgels / Compound blueberry lutein ester gummies
Although bilberry isn't listed separately in our current catalogue, we support formula customisation — you can combine bilberry, lutein, and zeaxanthin into one compound capsule.
Capsules and tablets are effective, but sometimes you just don't want to feel like you're "taking medicine." Especially around 3 or 4 in the afternoon when your eyes are already feeling gritty — pulling out a strip of pills from your bag feels psychologically off-putting.
Gummies solve that. Blueberry lutein ester gummies — sweet and tangy, chew a couple and you're done. It doesn't feel like "medicine"; it feels like "giving your eyes a little treat."
I keep them next to my monitor. When my eyes get tired, instead of reaching for my phone, I reach for a gummy. And I stand up to get a glass of water. That action itself becomes a "rest ritual."
Our product: E79 LUTEIN EYE GUMMIES
Each gummy contains lutein and zeaxanthin — perfect for those who dislike swallowing capsules, and also kid-friendly (great for students).
Closing your eyes only relieves fatigue — it can't repair the long-term oxidative damage caused by blue light. It's like running continuously: stopping to catch your breath helps, but your knee cartilage is already worn down. You need glucosamine, not just rest.
It's the same for your eyes. Dryness, grittiness, fatigue, blurriness — these are distress signals at the cellular level.
Lutein, zeaxanthin, bilberry anthocyanins — these are the "repair materials" that act directly on the retina and lens.
I'm not a doctor. I'm just a designer who doesn't want to reach 40 and be unable to work with fine font sizes.

Screens aren't going away. Work isn't decreasing.
But at least we can make sure our eyes, in this long war of attrition, have food to eat and a shield to block the damage.
Next time you're staring at a screen and your eyes start aching, don't just close them — think of your macula, waiting for you to feed it a lutein.
